The planning of our trip 2020 have been messed up by the COVID-19 thing.... So no trip.

Therefore we decided to let you know about the procedure to cancel the flight AND get the money back.

We have booked the flight end of 2019. Untill April 8th there was no announcement concerning a cancellation. Then we received an email with the following content:

Information about your booking order XXXXXX
Dear Ms. Sylke Brunner-Bettke,
Unfortunately, the current situation does not allow us to support you with the timely and individual customer service that you are used to from CHECK24.
We are therefore offering you a new, clear form that you can use to process your upcoming flight on April 30, 2020 from Munich to Chicago and any booked return flights. This allows you to quickly reserve a change of booking or request a refund. You will also find all information about the current conditions of the airline there.
Basically, airlines only offer reimbursements and rebookings for a fee. Due to the exceptional situation with COVID-19, however, reimbursements, vouchers or rebookings for existing bookings are often free of charge.

April 30, 2020:

Well, on the website we booked the flight on they linked to a few services that offer fast and easy money return. We decided to use the service of "Schlichtungsstelle für den öffentlichen Personenverkehr e.V. " As of now the process is pending.

June 20

No answer, no information on the website. That's why we simply called Check24. (June 20, 2020). And what a surprise - the money was reimbursed on June 15, 2020, with a loss of around 7.4%. We can live with that.

Other service providers who enforce claims for reimbursement sometimes take more than 40% of the reimbursed amount as a commission. In our case, we would have lost around 400 euros.
